It’s been awhile since I last posted some artwork, and with the NBA season coming to a close, I decided to make portraits of two great players. Both of which were sketched out first and then finished in illustrator. The Carmelo Anthony portrait was somewhat inspired by Philip Burke and his unique color choices, and is done completely with vector shapes. The Manu Ginobli portrait is hand drawn and then painted in illustrator.

Iron Man 3movie poster design. Created 2 weeks before the movie was released. I decided to go with a different take on it rather than the standard movie posters and have a more flat, graphic feel to it. While not knowing the full plot to this new movie, I wanted to depict Iron Man’s fall (which was shown a lot in early trailers), while still being positive and optimistic.

Illustrations for the book The Natural by Bernard Malamud. The story of Roy Hobbs and his journey to become the greatest baseball player to ever play the game.

My take on the famous propaganda poster; “Loose Lips Sink Ships.” I decided to put a sports spin on it and related my new saying “Loose Lips SInk Heroes” to the downfall of sports heroes Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, and the very vocal Dennis Rodman. Whether its doping in sports or being overly vocal on and off the court, people’s opinions of a certain athlete can change instantly.

Magazine Spread Design for my Design Principles class. The title of the article I chose to Illustrate and design is "Crossing Guard"- Why is One of the NBA’s All-Time Greatest Scorers Working As a Crossing Guard Now? This article was taken from the website Deadspin and was written by Dave McKenna. In the article, it talks about how and why Adrian Dantley, who is a Hall of Famer, works as a crossing guard now. The two portraits, younger and older, were made on Illustrator, as well as the spot illustrations. And the design and layout of the cover and body type, as well as the illustrations were done on InDesign.

This is the newest editorial illustration based on the article “Eating Disorders and Obesity in Youth: What Parents Need to Know,” by Katharine Loeb. My illustration relates to one of the points made in the article, about how the home serves as a buffer zone for the “toxic” food environment around us.

My latest illustration for our Concepts class, based off an editorial article. The article deals with a woman who has been searching for love and has endured some bad relationship experiences. She eventually finds her true love while playing volleyball and has been married ever since.

Here is my illustration for Edgar Allan Poe’s - The Tell-Tale Heart:
"So I opened it —you cannot imagine how stealthily, stealthily —until, at length a simple dim ray, like the thread of the spider, shot from out the crevice and fell full upon the vulture eye."

Having met Hall of Famer Rick Barry personally, and hearing some of his insights on the game, I was inspired to do a Rick Barry vector illustration. I wanted to create an old school basketball card, which features a small silhouetted image of his famous underhand foul shot.
